POSITIVE RESULT
Finding out you are pregnant can be an exciting time for many but also quite a shock for those who hadn’t planned to conceive just yet. For the best advice on what to do next depending on your circumstances, please choose one of the following options:

  • PLANNED
For the best support in achieving a healthy pregnancy, the first thing you should do is make an appointment to see your medical professional. Your midwife, doctor or obstetrician can provide you with much of the information you will need to know about the months ahead. See our Useful Links for more information on where to seek advice. Learning that you are pregnant should serve as encouragement for you to adopt healthy lifestyle habits. Visit our Family Planning section to learn more.

  • NOT PLANNED
If you haven’t planned for a baby, discovering you are pregnant can be an anxious time. No single choice may feel completely right – just what’s best given your circumstances. You need to act quickly, in order to keep all your options open, and may find it helpful to talk it over with a number of people you feel you can trust. Discuss it with your partner, midwife, doctor, local family planning clinic, or your parent/s or carer. See our Useful Links for more information on where to seek advice.

NEGATIVE RESULT
If you’ve taken a pregnancy test and have received a negative result, you may not be pregnant, or it may be too early to tell. If you do not get your period within seven days, you should retest with another FIRST RESPONSE™ Early Result In Stream Pregnancy Test or FIRST RESPONSE™ Digital Pregnancy Test.
